9/1 - Junior Artists Academy
After School ARt Program for K-5th graders. Tuesday, September 14 - November 16, 3:10-4:10, $115 or $200 for the whole year. Location: Inman Elementary Art room. Heidi Brown, Instructor. To register for this class, call the Community School @ 770-460-3990 ext 470.
9/1 - Basketball (from PTCYBA)
We're still looking for more 1st-2nd Grade Girls to fill out our league. If you are interested, we are waiving the late fee for our 1st-2nd Grade Girls age group so we can get our numbers to where they need to be. We are also waiving the fee for 1st grade boys. Regular registration is over. If you are still interested in registering for the 2010-11 PTCYBA season, please e-mail the following information to Bryan Clark at clarkptcyba@aol.com: Your name, Player's name, Player's gender (boy or girl), Player's grade in school, Parents e-mail, and Parents phone number. Great News!!!! The Academic Fair will be returning this year! There will be a committee meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9th at 9:30 at the school. This event requires lots of planning and many volunteers. 8/28 - Website Updates
Moved the small versions of the event calendar and the lunch menu from the bottom of the home page into the sidebar to make them easier to find; moved the teacher qualifications stuff from the sidebar to the bottom of the homepage and into the menus under links; moved the courtyard page in the menus from the "About Braelinn" section to "Departments"
8/22 - Update on our Injured Fifth Grader
He has been at Scottish Rite for rehab and is doing well. He is walking and getting his appetite back. Mom says thanks to everyone for all the kindness and good wishes!!!
8/22 - Fundraiser Announcement
Braelinn Elementary is very excited to announce that we will be doing the Boosterthon Fun Run this year as our biggest fundraiser!!! This fundraiser focuses on fitness, leadership, and character development. The character theme for this year is "Leader Launch". The program ends with a "cheering, skipping, dancing, hopping FUN RUN" (which will take place during school hours - so it is 100% participation). Our entire school community will experience the most exciting, memorable event of the year. Please check out the website... www.boosterthonoverview.com. The dates are set for October. So, watch for more information to come soon! We still love Innisbrook...so, if you need your favorite wrapping paper or box of chocolate, you can go to www.innisbrook.com and order whatever you would like.
8/22 - Courtyard
Everyone take a look at the courtyard...it looks beautiful! Now, we are looking for some large, yard umbrellas. If anyone would like to donate new or used umbrellas, it would be very much appreciated.
8/22 - Peachtree City Youth Basketball Association Sign-Ups Coming Soon
Leagues for girls and boys from 1st through 12th grade are starting soon. Please check out www.ptcyba.org or call Bryan Clark at 678-910-8002. Registration is August 21st-22nd and August 28th-29th at Kedron Field House: Saturdays 12 noon - 4:30pm, and Sundays 1pm - 4:30pm.

What's on your schedule August 28 – September 3rd? Will you shop for groceries, housewares, oil changes, gasoline, eat out? Pay for your purchases with gift cards from the retailers thru SCRIP and Braelinn will get a percentage of every dollar you spend!!! Orders due Tuesday, August 24th for delivery on Friday, August 27th just in time for all your needs the next week!! You can place your order online at www.scripzone.com. Added the Spirit Night upcoming events for the year to the school calendar; updated the Free Money page with a letter from the Commitment Team chair and several new opportunities to earn the school money. Please check it out!
8/14 - Box Tops News
We're kicking of this year's "Box Tops Collection Campaign" with a Free Ice Cream coupon for every student who prints out the "August Box Topics" and returns the bottom portion with 10 Box Tops glued or taped on, to their teacher by the end of August. Oh, and take a minute to re-register with Box Tops 4 Education at www.btfe.com and sign up to support Braelinn for the 2010-2011 school year. We receive Bonus Box Tops when you do.
8/14 - Goodie Bag Raffle
Stop by our Box Tops display table on information nights and enter the raffle to win a goodie bag filled with Box Tops items. One goodie bag for each grade level.
8/14 - Target Shoppers
Target is giving away "Double Bonus Box Tops" certificates between 8/15/10 and 8/28/10 (click here for details). Also, if you happen to use a Target Visa "REDcard" credit card on a regular basis, you can designate Braelinn the school you support through their "Take Charge of Education" program. They'll give us back up to 1% of your eligible purchases. Log onto www.Target.com for more details.

8/14 - Scrip Announcement
Online ordering for Scrip is available NOW!! Go to www.scripzone.com, click "New User", and create your account. Braelinn's group code is 770631BEPTO. "Teams" are listed by grade-teacher name. Please indicate your child's team on each order to ease delivery of your order. You have the option to pay Braelinn PTO by check or to use your credit card. Please note credit card orders are NOT available for local vendors unless you submit a paper order form and the total is $400 or more. Enter your order. If paying by check, make payable to Braelinn PTO, attach to the copy of order confirmation and send to your child's homeroom teacher. All orders submitted by Tuesday, August 24th will be delivered to your child on Friday, August 27th. Thereafter all orders submitted by Tuesday at 9:30 am will be delivered on Friday!! We are very excited to offer you this convenient way to support Braelinn Elementary! 8/14 - Safety Patrol Announcement
Parents of fourth and fifth grade students: A sheet went home this week about safety patrols. If your child would like to serve as a safety patrol make sure the form is returned to Mrs. Hudson room 133. Each classroom will serve a nine week session. As soon as all forms are returned she will let the teachers know which nine week session they have. Thank you so much for encouraging your child to participate in this service. If your child did not get a form please have them stop by Mrs. Hudson's room or print one out from her webpage.

Thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers who worked hard this summer to get things ready for school! Just to name a few: Julie Powell in the workroom, Laura Snitzer with the school supplies, Susan Johnson with scrip, and Cheryl Phillips/Melissa Cognac in the courtyard. You put your heart into these tasks and our school is better because of you!

Got rid of references to the Scrip short form as we aren't going to be using it any more; added a link to order Scrip online to the Free Money page and to the Scrip page (found linked from the Free Money page); addded a page for the Cafeteria under Departments with just menu prices on it for now, but I hope to later add procedures for buying meals & sending in lunch money, ice cream & popcorn policies, info on the reduced lunch program, etc...

Braelinn has a new kickball field! Go check it out!
8/8 - GREEN Team's first meeting coming up
GREEN Team's first meeting will be Wednesday, August 18th from 2:30-3:15. The plans for beautifying our school playground AND the oil disaster will be discussed. Please join us for our kickoff meeting. Pick-up is at the kindergarten doors. Hope to see you there!
8/8 - Recycle old batteries
Bring your old batteries to be recycled! Place them in the "Battery Recycling Bucket" on the PTO table in the cafe. If you would like to donate money to the GREEN team to help with this program, please see Ms. Harris. Thank you and we hope that this will serve as your safe disposal of batteries.
8/8 - Update on our rising 5th grader
He is off of the ventilator and breathing on his own. He is being slowing taken off of the medications. Please continue to pray for his recovery and keep him in your thoughts. If you would like to donate money or restaurant gift cards, please have it to the school by Friday, August 13th. Thanks to everyone who has already donated!
8/5 - Website updates
The clinic page has been added, with information from the FCBOE parent letter, including guidelines for when sick children may return to school; the list of class lunch times, specials and recesses has been updated for the new school year.

Reminders

  • If you need to change the way your child is going home, please call before 2:00pm.
  • Parents and Visitors must check-in the front office and get a visitor sticker! At all times!
  • Parents, if you bring and/or pickup your child in a golf cart, you should park in the two designated parking areas rather than coming through the car lane. This is a safety issue. Thank you!
  • Lost & Found is located in the front hall. Please label all jackets and lunchboxes. All items will be donated at the end of each month!
  • The GREEN Team is collecting gently used books, athletic shoes, Capri Sun empty containers. We also have a dumpster in the back of school that takes all cardboard, paper, magazines, newspapers. We will no longer be accepting plastic bags or plastic containers of any kind. Please recycle them at Kroger/Publix and the Recycling Center on McIntosh Trail. Learn more about recycling at Braelinn!
  • Do you have any pictures of Braelinn events? Please send them to ingridmongiove@gmail.com
  • If your Braelinn student is in the newspaper this school year, please bring an extra copy to the school for Nance Hudson. She will be putting them on our "Newspaper Bulletin Board", which is near the media center.
